This board is new, and we're still figuring things out.  For example, about thirty seconds ago, I added an "Announcements and Tech" area.

It's been great making new friends and also great catching up with old ones.  But all of the catching up and getting to know each other has resulted in a lot of wandering, derailing, and general off-topicness.  I've been doing it, myself, but I'm also trying to catch myself and rein it back in.

There are a lot of lurkers here, who aren't joining in the conversations but are watching and reading.

And there will also be new folks, new people posting, new people checking in.  My site's going to be up forever, ITL will last forever, and therefore this board will be here for a long time.  If someone pops in next July and says, "Oh, wow, a whole long thread about Jason and Trent, that's terrific!" and clicks the link, only to read 25 posts of us talking about the storm puppy and hair dye, that's kind of unfortunate.

Let's all try to stay more on-topic.  Although I welcome a relatively broad definition of "on-topic."  If a thread ostensibly about Desin wanders into a conversation about Anikira, I'd still consider that on-topic in the general sense.  But a conversation about the storm puppy would be off-topic.

There's a whole section of this board dedicated to off-topic conversations, and you are absolutely 100% welcome to talk there.  About anything and everything.  I'm all about community-building, and I encourage you to share and bond and get to know each other.

Diamond and I are going to check out the existing threads to trim some of the off-topic posts.  We'll send them over to the off-topic section of the board, and you're welcome to continue the conversation there.

I'll try to keep myself on-topic.  And greetings to whoever visits us next July!  We've tried to keep the place nice for you.

I'm sorry!  I know we got terribly off topic in the Living post!  It was all my fault, I'm so sorry, Matthew!

 Sad

We're back on topic now!  I asked what one's favorite Drewsome scene was!

I've been trying to catch myself, too.  I keep wandering off into the wilderness.

We'll just all have to be strong together.

Sometimes, wandering off can be a good thing.  But it's true that the discussion should get back on topic after at least two posts.  If we see that it's 'getting out of post' (yes, out of post), we could maybe move it to the off-topic section of the board?

Just a suggestion.

Yes, that would be great!

Ok, I'll try. Smiley

If I feel a burning need to talk about Nick or say, dildos, I'll either do to the 'Living' thread or to the Off-topic thread.  Tongue
