Xio Voe wants to become an Anorian Priest!  I nearly cried!  That's all kinds of awesome, and I absolutely loved the way Remin reacted to it!

The way Eleita is reacting to XV is cute in the extreme!  Hugging him, when he doesn't generally like to be hugged, and everything else!  I kept giggling.

Favorite quote of the chapter:

Quote
I haven’t exactly had you yet.  Don’t get ahead of yourself.

I shall banner that... right now.

It's good to be back!

History wasn’t a series of individual events, but a rich story where each plot affected the others.

Xio Voe putting up with Eleita's hugging was funny...but not without his... hmm can't think of the word, but he was definitely using it to his advantage.
Quote
The princess hugged him enthusiastically, cooing about how happy she was for their love for each other.  While he would’ve preferred not to be embraced, he bent slightly to hug her back, knowing that a slight against Princess Eleita was ill-advised.  Overall, it was good to have her immediate support.

And his comments on Kudorin's behavior:
Quote
“I’m the best he’s ever had,” Kudorin said, grinning.

Xio Voe’s eyes narrowed.  I haven’t exactly had you yet.  Don’t get ahead of yourself.

Snickering, Kudorin dared Xio Voe to say that aloud.

You have a very adolescent sense of humor.

And his desire to become and Anorian priest:
Quote
“Would it be possible for me to become an Anorian priest?”

Kudorin stared at Xio Voe, still only vaguely comprehending.  “You want to become an Anorian priest?”

“Which gods would you…  Never mind,” Anosadum said.  “All of them, of course.

I loved this chapter.  It was everything I was expecting from the "Meet the Parents" chapter and more.  I was just delighted with it and then the shock of Xoe Voe asking to be an Anorian Priest happened.  I adore Kudorin's & the Siblings parents.  I was waiting for Sanuk to take him aside and do the "Talk" just like he did to Bade but this was just as fun.  I really giggled when Ankira told them Xoe Voe was missing his "time alone" with Kudorin for the day and Ansanum told Kudorin to take him aside for a bit.  The scene after wards melted my heart (not that it isn't a puddle of goo with these two most of the time.)

Quote
Dressed, standing by the door, he rested a shoulder against the closed door and lowered his face to Anosukinom’s, inhaling slowly, caressing near to Anosukinom’s cheek as Anosukinom’s face tilted up to his.  It felt very intimate, to be this close to someone, to stand close enough to breathe on each other.  He watched Anosukinom’s mouth.  Those full, sensuous lips.  How soft they looked.  How pink they were.  His voice was barely audible when he said, in what felt like a helpless confession, what felt inevitable, “I love you today even more than I did last week.  I love you so much that it surprises me that we aren’t already married.  It frustrates me that we have to wait to live together, wait to rule together, wait to touch each other.”

“Shiefa,” Anosukinom whispered, rising onto his toes, his mouth almost brushing Xio Voe’s.  “I love everything about you.  I love that you respect my mother and I love that you sing Soracic hymns while you tend to your horse and I love that you’re as impatient to be with me as I am to be with you.”

The siblings reaction to him wanting to become an Anorian Priest was fun to watch too.  I love it when they all get together.  *runs off to read the chapter where they all go to Bade & Orinakin's Uristina*

I liked the chapter, liked Xio Voe Meeting The Parents, especially when Anikira and Anorik discussed Xio Voe's tendency to get cranky when he doesn't get his daily dose of Kudorin.

I'm just weary. I know that Matthew is pacing the story well, and I trust that the wedding will come when it's time, that he's not dragging anything out or making us wait intentionally, it's just that the waiting that is part of being a subscriber is weighing on me. I almost dread Saturday mornings because for the past two months I've been constantly disappointed to not get the wedding and now I'm not enthusiastic about ITL anymore. Which makes me feel both sad and guilty. I'm all  Waiting and  Pulling Hair Out and  Cry inside every weekend.

I realized just how well he paced the story on my re-read, the chapters just flow one into the other, it reads real well. But like you I'm tired of waiting and I WANT THE WEDDING!!!!  Pulling Hair Out

But I think we still have a couple more chapters, the Sultan's arrival,  the arrival of Xio Voe's parents & siblings, the meeting between the parental units, etc.. before we get to the actually wedding itself. *sighs* Roll Eyes

Sorry for the snip, but I feel exactly the same.  I just really, really want the wedding and the rest to COME. It feels like forever, lol; but in reality I know he has to do the set up or it wont make sense.

Yeah. Like Shanghi, when I did a reread, it didn't feel like things were slow or delayed, so the flow is really great.

Looking back at my chapter-by-chapter notes, Bade and Orinakin got engaged in chapter 47 and married in chapter 65. That's 18 chapters, which in real time for subscribers was four and a half months. Kudorin and Xio Voe got engaged in chapter 168, 23 chapters and nearly six months ago. And getting engaged was the end of the major hurdles to their relationship.

We met Xio Voe in 78 and he and Kudorin met in 86. Assuming that The Rainbow Book began at their first meeting, it has been going on for 105 chapters. The Purple book, assuming it ended when Orinakin and Bade left for their trip, lasted 76 chapters. I hope hope HOPE that this is a case of The Rainbow Book being unusually long and not The Purple Book being unusually short.

Aaaaand...how much of a heel should I feel like for being tempted to end my subscription for a while after the wedding so I can "build up" a bunch of chapters?

You aren't a heel CL.  If you want the build up, you can always stop reading it and let the subscription continue CL.  Hug  I will eMail you when the wedding happens.  I know I WANT the wedding now too but realize that it all will take time.  Doesn't help with me wanting the wedding though.

That's what I'm doing I think the last chapter I read was 190 I told Liz I'm going to try and hold off till one of two things happen....

1.  Selorin and Vade hook up
2. Wedding

Which ever comes first....lmao  So every week if I get a chance to chat with her Ill ask her... "Did  Selorin and Vade hook up?" Liz: "No"  "Did the wedding happen?"  Liz: "No"

and Ill say...that's all I need to know  Cheesy
