I am going through all the messages and reporting them as spam to make it easier for the mod/admin who will be tackling this issue to ID the spammers who posted and delete their accounts.

I hope that soon Matt will allow for a volunteer to clean things out.

I don't know if it was helpful or if it was just a coincdence BUT I chose to report each and every spammer as spam.  I startied working on it last night, as I mentioned yesterday.  I continued through today.  The only ones left at the end of the day were the ones I hadn't finished reporting.  So I am going to assume it is helpful for Matthew for us to report them.

So...

As soon as you see a spam message report it!

And if this isn't the actual truth I am hoping Matthew of Liz will let us know.

We shouldn't have much problem with any new spammers posting either.  Matthew has disabled registration.   As soon as the old ones are kicked out.  No new spammers should be able to post.

I just checked the members numbers and Matthew got rid of about 300 of the spammers tonight.  Nod Someone  Floating Hearts us.

Matthew reports that he has someone looking into installing the programs that make it almost impossible for spammers to join a Simple Machine board but allows us humans freely through.  There will be the occasional spammer that has a real person behind the registration but hopefully mostly the programs will keep them out.

In the meantime, we can report the spammers to Matthew directly via PM or eMail.  Once they are reported please post on the spam topic they have been reported.

You kow those people who love us?  Floating Hearts They came in and took out almost another 100 spam and bot accounts today.  Thank You!!  Hug

Now we have 115 members.  30 more than the 75 we had when I joined. Group Hug   Thinking That seems about right.
