Welcome!  Thanks for stopping by.

Intro

I opened a message board back in 2001 for my original website, and we all had a great time.  When I opened my second site (the one you're on now), at first I didn't have enough material to warrant a message board.

After "In This Land" began, there was enough happening around here to warrant discussion, so I opened the update list (which had been announcements-by-me-only) to general conversation.  And we all had a great time.

Then, a couple of weeks ago, Falconer nudged me and said, "Hey, open up a message board, would you?"  I tried to resist, because I knew that it would draw me in and suck up all of my time, but I asked a few people for opinions, and we all agreed that it was a good idea, so here we are.  Welcome to the new message board!

I've tried to section everything off for ease of navigation.  "In This Land" stuff in one area, non-ITL stuff elsewhere.  You're welcome to post your comments on old threads, new threads, in reply to something someone said five minutes ago, or in reply to the oldest comment you can find.  And if no thread exists on the subject you want to talk about, go ahead and start a thread yourself!  We'll join in.

How you can help

My site, "In This Land," and this message board will be here for a long time.  Which means that what we post here today will be read not only by other posters and by lurkers, but by new ITL readers five years from now.  To make their lives easier, please try to keep the conversation on-topic.  A 55-post conversation about Bade is terrific and fun, but no one's going to know to look for it in a thread about Remin.  A 27-post conversation about your shoes is entirely warranted, but not necessarily what someone's looking for in a thread about Desin.

Off-topic conversations, personal conversations, and revelations about your holiday plans are terrific, and you're welcome to share them!  I only ask that you share them in the appropriate sections of the board.

If you're in a Selorin thread, and something you read reminds you of the short story "Ten Weird Things," please comment in a "Ten Weird Things" thread.  That way, people coming along after you who want to read about "Ten Weird Things" will be able to enjoy your comments, and people who want to read about Selorin won't be thwarted.

Have fun!

All of the above boils down to: have fun, have a good time, and remember that you're part of a community, so being considerate of other folks is always a good idea.

Thank you for reading!
