Hi.

I'm Matthew.

Wait, I can make these words move?  Fancy.
So high-tech, this place!  So modern!

Anyway, I've been reading Matthew's work for a long time, and I hope to meet a lot of nice people here on this board.

And you?

Hello there!! OMG, a message board, awesome!!  Cheesy

I'm Falconer. I'm an ITL newbie, but a Matthew veteran (does 4-years count?)!

Right now I gotta go to my morning class, but I'm looking forward to having some really cool discussions here!

Hi!  *giggle*

I'm Vani (short for Vanessa).

Why did I pick SilverMooon28 instead of my standard BackstreetLove28?  I don't know, I figured I should have something non-related to my favorite music for once.

I know I haven't been posting for a while, but I plan on doing a lot better with that Smiley  I must say, though, I'm happy I won't have 400 e-mails in my inbox to go through, this is good!!

Take care!

Hi, I'm Vivian or Viv or whatever form of V type nickname you choose. I've managed to somehow stumble upon this amazing writer and the proceeded to gobble up almost every word he's written and posted on the net. You really are just fantastic Matthew, so I'll say thanks now. Someday if we get a chance to talk, I'll gush on and on about how I spent weeks reading Sucker and Living and Attainable and I'll tell you that Two Bodies is like... my absolute favorite thing and have reread it so many times I've lost count and then pimped you our to my friends and readers in my blog cause you're too good to keep a secret. But until then...

I'm a wife, and a mom of two kids, and I write gay porn... well, I try to tell myself it's not porn, but something more like gay romantic fiction... who knows.

Anyway, congratulations on starting this board. I'm sure it will grow into a great community of people.

Hugs,
Viv

Hi, everyone.  I'm Jae. ^_____^

I first remember reading Matthew's short stories back in 2001, I think, and then I'd check back randomly for new shorts.  One day, in 2007 (you'll soon learn I have an excellent memory for text and a terrible memory for real life), I checked his site again and lo and behold!  A series called ITL!  Haha... the rest, as they say, is history.

Hmm... as for the rest of it...  I'm an English major and graduating senior at UCB (Oh God, must find full-time job!), and if you haven't seen me in action at Matthew's livejournal or on his yahoo!group, you will at some point.  I'm in love with ITL, and I love good debates and discussions, and I love citations--so... don't be surprised if I engage in a debate about ITL with you at some point.

(Though I'll try harder now to scope out a bit in my first reply post to you to see if you actually want to engage in debate, or maybe ask whether other people want to debate with me on what you said if you don't want to...?  Hmm, that second one is gonna be new for me, but I figure I should try it.  Maybe other people would like that, too?)

Anyway, the message board looks fantastic!  And I'm happy to see that a bunch of people are as excited by it as I am!

That's all for now...

Hello everyone - I'm jcchaser on LJ, and have been reading Matthew's RPS for a couple of years - totally hooked on Sucker!  I finally made the plunge and subscribed to ITL a year ago, and haven't looked back. Cheesy

lmao... I've also been reading Mattslash since around 2001... I remember because it was right before my Backstreet Boys show in September 2001 and I remember thinking that Nick and Kev were going to make out onstage.  I wonder how I could have gotten that in my head? Cheesy:D

You know, this is exactly why I don't read real-people-slash. (I find it a bit creepy.  Lips Sealed) But I can see the appeal...  Wink

Hello everyone!!  I'm Liz or Lizzard.  You might know me from LJ or Yahoo (LakeLilac).  I've been a Mattslash fan since late 2002, so I'm a little behind some of the others.  I have read basically everything he's ever written, except Sucker.  I got so far in it and had to quit cuz Evil Brian was giving me nightmares.  I am 39 years old and I have a variety of obsessions - boybands, gay erotica, My Chemical Romance, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, vampires, and wrestling to name a few.

lol, I understand that.  One just has to remember that these are characters in stories and not actual people - even if it's Brian who's a maniac in 'Sucker', I know he's not a maniac in real life... okay, I lied, he's a maniac onstage but still!  You get my point!!!

I hope your cold gets better!!

Hi I'm Susanne or you can call me Sue. I live in Michigan and I am a single Mom of two. I work full time at a job I love and thank god everyday I have my job.

One of my favorite hobbies is the Paranormal, I like to go on ghosthunts and watch all the shows.

Liz introduced me to Matthews work back in 2003, I think? I have read most of his work. Liz one day sends me the link to the first 3 free chapters of ITL and tells me to check it out and that I'm going to love this story. Well I said OK and stuck it in my favorite places and kept telling her everytime she asked me if I have read it yet that I just don't think I could get into a story like that so finally after about a YEAR of sitting in my favorites I got bored one night and had nothing to do so I decided to read the chapters and a hour later I was subscribed....LOL

Looking forward to chatting with all of you.  Dancing

Lmao, Sue!  Welcome to the crazy Mattboard!

I'm also guilty of procrastinating as far as reading updates is concerned.  I'm going to Chicago next week, and there's a possibility that I won't be able to read the updates while I'm there... and I know that I'll be waiting until two weeks after I get back to keep reading...

Then again, that'll be about 4 parts in one sitting!  *cackle*

lmao.  Just think of the excitement of getting an ITL overdose!!  It's a massive colorful high!!!

Granted, I might not wait so long this time because I really want to see when Xio Voe falls in love (how long are you going to make us wait, Matthew??).

I hope this posts this time... because I'm having issues here!!

Hi, I'm Rhia. I'm an ITL newbie (I started reading a couple weeks ago!) and I''m lovin' it. Other than commenting on the potential lewdness of certain names, I've been avoiding the discussions so far, mostly because the lovely person who introduced me to ITL has been threatening me with pain of death if I look at spoilers.

I found ITL through a school friend, after she noticed that I had a rather notorious slash fanfic writer added on LiveJournal. I called her after I read the first three chapters, to tell her that she had gotten me hooked on literary crack right at the start of the semester. She's doing her penance by patiently receiving at least ten text messages a day with questions and comments.

Edit: It occurs to me, looking at the sidebar, that 'Extra Member' sounds a little lewd, too. As in, "Hello, sir, do you happen to have an extra member?"

Haha, don't worry. I'm not afraid and I would love a challenge. And yes you would probably be able to fool me with that expression, because one can fool me to the moon and back, backwards and I would not be aware of it.  Hmmm Maybe I shouldn't have said that... Oh well, whatever.
Anyway, I am hard to scare away. I am really stubborn..  Grin

Well hello there, board.

I'm Bee.  I'm a relative MHT newbie (I stumbled across Sweet Uncleanness about six months ago) and have been a rabid Sucker fan since the moment I laid eyes on it, but I just started In This Land oh...a week ago?  Something like that.  But it's dragged me in just like all his other fics, only more so, because, well, pretty colors

That may not have made much sense, but the entire point of me de-lurking so quickly is in the hopes that I can talk to people who get it.

Um.  I photoshop and I draw, and I really want to fanart for ITL.  I've got a few possibilities but no 'omg gotta work now' inspirations, so feel free to toss ideas at me, if you've got them.

 Welcome Queenbee!

Ideas for Fan Art?  Thinking Well, what kind of things do you do in Photoshop? Manips or regular stuff? Do you draw people or scenery or objects (or all of them  Grin)? We can't represent Kudorin (because he's a god and all that), but... Norisa is a good idea! Personally, I would love to see a balloon. Or a scene of one of the festivals (just lots of people and kids cheering and having a good time with confetti and ribbons and stands and lots of colors!). Or a scene of the canals and boats in Jacacea.  Adore (or maybe you haven't reached that part yet?   Lips Sealed ).

Hi!  I'm Ana.  I'm from the Philippines but I've been working in Saudi Arabia for almost 10 years now.

I stumbled into ITL when I read "Guys In College" on ebook (no way would it come out on print here!) last 2006.  I was hooked ever since Love

Reading the posts here is so much fun so I'm de-lurking.  I'm looking forward to interacting with all you wonderful people!

Ana: What, not out in print? Ummmm. I guess you won't be ordering the Purple Book quite yet then.
Will you be going back to the Philippines when your job is done? Can you go around Saudi Arabia freely?
    Do you dress Western?

There's severe censorship in Saudi Arabia so not a lot of books come through.  Homosexuality is a crime here so yeah, no gay books, and definitely no gay erotica.  Sad Head Shake   But I have the printed book of "The Purple Book".  I had it shipped from the US.

Inside the hospital compound where I work, it's quite normal, we can dress in normal clothes (no shorts or sleeveless tops) and we live a somewhat normal life.  But outside, it's a totally different world.  The country has very restricted rules, especially for women.  I have to watch what I wear, to whom I speak, and where I eat.  Pulling Hair Out  Not everyone can bear to live here but having my husband here with me makes it okay for me.

We can go out and travel anywhere in the world on our vacation time.  My husband and I usually travel 3-4 times a year.  We really need those vacations to get a breather from this place, you know?  When we're done and saved enough money, we'll be going settling in Canada.

Hi Quintanna!

From the ITL Subscription FAQ page:

To find it later, log in to your PayPal account and go to the "History" subtab of the "My Account" tab. Choose "Subscriptions" from the pull-down menu and press the "Submit" button. Click on the Status link for "In This Land Subscription"; the Subscription Details page will list your username and password.

Smiley Like Falconer said, the information is always available, in case you forget, on the FAQ page. You can get there easily from the main ITL page.

This is my first post to any board.

I have read ITL for the past two years and have been reading the board as a lurker since it started to get up my courage to join.  This sequence was my catalyst.

I dearly love ITL and Matthew's collective work.  My Friday nights and Saturday mornings are enriched by this gift we are blessed with each week.  Diamond's efforts and support of Matthew's efforts can't be described and I am very grateful for her adding to the experience.

Last year I had my Laptop hard drive fuse with all my paypal data in it, along with all my other critical data.  After buying a new computer, I had to start finding my favorite sites and setting up new accounts with everyone.  I didn't know about this help with PayPal.  I am glad this forum is here for others today.

To everyone who has been on the board, I have enjoyed the discussions about ITL.  I hope to add my input in the future.

Greetings, everyone!

There were a few posts and some conversation after Diamond's post, that have been moved to the off-topic thread, as they ventured into other territory.  Just wanted to clarify, since I left a few posts like Quinntanna's last one here, and they refer to the moved posts.

All of that aside, welcome!  Thank you all for stopping by, and for enjoying my work.  Your support and your awesomeness are greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone!  I'm Dena, and I'm pretty new to Matthew's work, and haven't read through everything yet, but I did catch up on ITL and am, naturally, completely addicted and a huge fan.  I was pointed here by falconer, whom I've been chatting with about the series in my livejournal.

I'm in Florida, live on a horse farm (though it's more like a horse parking lot these days, since the big guys just amble around the field and don't work!) and In This Land pretty much shattered my former, firm resolution to never read Works in Progress.  I loved it too much to stop, despite knowing I'd have to wait!

So hello!

Welcome Dena! I usually avoid WIPs too, and I put off reading ITL for a long time. Then I found out that there were to be EIGHT books!! I realized I would be waiting for a while...  Hmmm so I decided to read the sample chapters. And that was it.  Dunno I was hooked!

He does!  lol.  I've had friends who tried to drag me into bandslash but since my musical tastes don't lean that way, it didn't take.  I'm more of a fandom, character-following sort of fan, rather than RPF.  Though I have enough friends who squee over various bandslash or RPF fandoms that I understand the appeal.  I'll just have to content myself with reading all the shorts and waiting for Fridays!

Goodness look at all the smilies Online

Hi  Hi There  My name is Mountie and I have been casing ITL for about a year now and I have finally taken the plunge and subscribed.

I read the first three chapters and was intrigued.  Fantasy M/M is my favorite genre and I knew that once I started reading I wouldn't be able to  stop.  Now I am just waiting for my PayPal password to kick in.  One of our regular posters over on JR Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood Boards is totally hooked on ITL and Matthews work.  Since she likes almost exactly the same books I do, I decided to come on over.  We feel it is fair trade as I hooked her on Special Forces by Marquesate and Vashtan.

I look forward to getting to know you all and to discuss the story as I go.

I am always happy when I find a forum associated with an author as for me it makes the reading experience much more pleasurable talking with other readers. Book

See you on the boards.

Welcome, Mountie!  Welcome I am also a big fan of JR Ward.  I don't go to the BDB message board that often anymore but I loved the discussions there whenever I visit.  I actually got the recommendation for Special Forces from the BDB message board and it is saved on my computer but I haven't gotten around to reading it.  So I just might start on it now.

I feel so excited for you.  I still remember when I started reading ITL.  I got this amazing buzz  Buzzy for weeks for reading over 60 chapters continuously!  I still get them every week and it's so much fun discussing it here or over at LJ.  I hope you get your password soon!

Hello everyone! I'm Courtney and I got Mountie hooked on ITL. She'll thank me for it later.  Wink As for me, I started reading when there were, I think, 140-ish parts up. I've become unhealthily addicted to it, but something tells me that none of you will think less of me for that. LOL

Quick rundown of me: I'm in my mid-to-late twenties, I have a three year old daughter and a five month old son, my husband is the best man there ever was, and I'm fortunate enough that I get to stay at home and raise my kids. My two favorite things to do are reading and knitting and I figured out a while ago that I can do both at the same time if I read ebooks on my laptop and page down without letting go of my yarn and needles by hitting the spacebar with my pinky. This works beautifully with web-based stories like ITL.

Let's see, what else....oh, I'm dressing my kids up as Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr. Suess's The Cat in the Hat for Halloween.  Cheesy

Just watch out for that SKEInsanity person.  She's extremely dangerous, especially if you're not a Selorin/Vade person.  She likes to bite.  I should know, I have the scars to prove it.

I am looking really closely to see Selorin and Vade.  So far I have the feeling that both of them like kinky sex BUT I haven't spent enough time with them yet in intimate settings to see if it will work out.

It's going to be an interesting journey for sure... but then I'm just at the beginning.  My reading is outpacing my comments but I'll get them posted.

I think there sexual taste are very much alike but I also have seen alot of nonsexual possible hints that make me think they will be together which I would love to list but i would need to look them up and I wanna wait and make sure everyone is on the same page so I don't spoil anything for anyone. I love talking about these two.  Adore

Oh I can definately see Selorin and Vade together but I also wondered wwhy they didn't hook up early.  That there wasn't an a ha moment  Or I guess it can be one of those romances where they become best of friends, supporting their brothers then waking up one day and realizing they are perfect for each other.

Time will tell...

Welcome to Mattboard.  Welcome

Got any Nosupolin blanket or Jacacean scarf patterns on the go?  Anaskee lead us to a site where CL and I found some amazing rainbow knitting yarn.

We could have a regular knitting/crocheting (Shanghi's a crocheter) bee on Fridays while we read the new chapters.  We could all have matching  Kudorin scarfs.  Dancing

Yes you absolutely can CL  Love I share easily and if you didn't keep at me I would never have found and loved ITL as much as you knew I would.  Shanghi and Lami weren't pimped they were BRIBED  Giggle I bought them each a months subscription for Christmas. Wink  But I knew they would love it since we all love fantasy so much.

lilbitofchaos, blf (who just joined Mattboard) and the rest came after me cause we all love epic manlove where we really can get to know characters so deeply.  I won't mention all the *cough* Hot Sex *cough* that we like either is plentiful.  Evil

I can't stop reading long enough to concentrate on knitting or crocheting (I do both) at the moment. Never thought I would be such an avid Manlove Junkie. Could try blaming it on Mountie's pimping skills Roll Eyes but that wouldn't be right. I'm just a sucker for a good story.

As I said before, I plan to get back in this after Mardi Gras. Heading out to a parade tonight in crappy weather.  Grump

Yeah sistaknitta is the name I use everywhere else but for some reason my mind blanked (beginning BDB addiction) when I signed up on JR's board and I put in mrsdnbdey. Got the name from a buddy of mine that can turn a mean heel on a sock Wink he sucks as a teacher but great fun to knit with.

OK, off to catch some beads....

I was lurking in the ITL thread on the JR Ward forum board. Read what Mountie, Shanghi and Lami and all the others were saying and decided to check it out. I love it! Cheesy

Now I am just waiting for my password to start working since I subscribed today.

I love reading romances and paranormal stories. Got hooked on erotica from Lora Leigh. Just starting to check out M/M I think that is the correct abbreviation. I know I LOVE ITL. I can't wait to read more. I guess labels don't matter really it the quality of the writing. Blush

G'day everyone,

I'm a newbie, although not totally new to Matthew's books. I read "Affair in Paradise" back in June last year and really loved it, but I only just discovered ITL in the beginning of January this year. I have read everything there currently is on ITL and like everyone else on here, I'm totally hooked. I just finished reading "Living", so at the moment I'm up to date with all of Matthew's work. Now what do I do? No more to read until the next chapter of ITL  Sad

I have been reading M/M novels/stories for quite a lot of years now, and quite frankly I think Matthew's are the best. I still love Carol Lynne and Bobby Michaels/Rimpig, but I absolutely adore ITL.

Just a bit about me, I'm 39 yrs old, mother of 2, who loves reading, roleplaying, computers and genealogy. Weird combination I know, but that's me.

Well just wanted to say hello to everyone from Downunder Smiley.

Take care,

Corson

Welcome, Corson! Always great to meet ITL junkies. Aussies are a special treat, too, because while I'm freezing my butt off in the northern US, I take comfort in the fact that all my online buddies in Oz and Kiwiland are nice and toasty. What part of Australia do you claim as home?

Also, have you read Special Forces by Marquesate and Vashtan? It's another MM romance online series (not as long as ITL will be, but about a million words nonetheless) and--BONUS--it's free. Very violent and graphic and the heroes meet in the absolute worst way you can imagine, but once you get into the story, you get well and truly hooked.

Thanks for the greetings CourtneyLee. I live in Melbourne, Victoria and yeah it is nice and toasty here.

No I haven't read "Special Forces", where would I find this, do I do a search on google for the authors? Or do you have a link I can use? Thanks for the tip. Smiley

Hey Dena,

What RPG's do you play? We play GURPS, Star Wars, Cyberpunk 2020, D6 Bloodshadows, Battletech and a few others. It's fun making your own stories isn't it?

Welcome Corson!

Thanks anaskee.

What? It's not like it would be taking away valuable ITL subscription money or anything. And I pimp ITL wherever I go, including getting Mountie, aka SuperPimp, addicted to it. From me to her to countless manlove junkies from JR's board...I'm good. Besides, SF is a mere one million words. ITL is going to outstrip that by a longshot. Cheesy
